Spring In The Valley 09

Twas that time of the year again, Spring in the Valley.
A bus full of 'young ones' and 'oldies' heading out to the wonderful Swan Valley to sample some of the magnificent wines.
Karen arranged breakfast of bbq bangers for the wanting (or needing) to line their tummies before hitting the road!

The bus ride is always good fun, everyone catching up on the news and anticipating what the day will bring..........and the following morning!.....

As you can see we got to our first stop "Charlies Estate Wines" before they opened! Keen? Yes!!

The staff greeted us with a warm smile and open arms and in we flocked, ready for our first samples!

A frenzy of flavours and tasting, the muscats went over very well..
What wonderful value at $3.00 per head and 11 wines to sample + 20% discount on cellar door sales on the day. We are going to go back one Sunday in summer with a cheese platter and sample more...keep an eye on the calendar.

You guessed it, the bus was getting full of cartons under the seats already.......
.and this was only the first stop!

Next stop, The Great Northern Distillary.
Not exactly a vineyard, but the slushie drinks and cocktails were well received. $15 entry gave you a keepsake tumbler and your first drink.
Refills were $6 each.

A great opportunity to bring a picnic lunch and sit back and chill out listening to some live music, have a dance if you want, or just relax in the valley.

Mmmmmmmm, that's good, what is it called?

Food beckoned most as we sat and had a chat.

Next we headed off to Windy Creek Winery.
A small place with some nice wines at very reasonable prices. Entry was $8 for a keepsake glass and 6 tastings.

Those muscats again!!
With the weather starting to chill as the clouds rolled in, we decided to head off to the Margaret River Chocolate Factory as the last stop.
Lots of hot chocolate drinks were ordered, a great way to finish the day.

Oh and for those choco-holics, you can help yourself to the samples of white, milk and dark chocolate buttons.........we had a few!!!

Thanks to Karen and Raymond for organising another fun Spring in the Valley and to everyone young, old and anywhere in the middle that came along and made it a fun day.
