Sunday 18th April saw a small group of us make our way to Freo to enjoy all that the port city has to offer. The weather gods smiled upon us with a glorious 32 degree day and not a cloud in the sky.
We met in Perth and made our way by train to Freo.
Upon arrival we took a slow stroll towards the markets and were surprised to find several little laneways with cafes and specialty shops reminiscent of Melbourne.
The shops were offering everything from expensive replica model cars to weird and wonderful clothes for the more adventurous fashionistas among us.
On to the markets, which as always was alive with colour, sounds, smell and atmosphere.
For the sake of the long suffering Dockers supporters among us, we then walked across the road to Freo Oval to look at the home of their footy stars.
This was a detour us Eagles supporters didn’t particularly enjoy.
From there the mandatory stroll along the cappuccino strip took us a full circle back to the mall.
At this point the group split up into two, with the ladies walking on to look at more shops whilst the men headed back to the Sail and Anchor for a thirst quencher.
We all met up again on the balcony of the Sail and Anchor to enjoy a hearty lunch and a cold Redback beer whilst looking down at the street performers below us.
There is no better way to spend an hour or two in Freo.
After lunch it was a slow stroll back to the train station for the trip home.
This was a wonderful relaxing way to spend a Sunday.
Thanks John for organising it and Brian for the blurb.
