Movie Afternoon - Mozarts Sister - Saturday 23 July, 2011

A group of the girls went along the the beautiful Art Deco Windsor Theatre in Nedlands to see Mozart's Sister on Saturday.

It was received with mixed responses, mostly that we all realised how much we didn't know about history!!!

Mozart's sister was quite an accomplished musician and composer, but due to the era in which she was born, it wasn't seen as a profession for a female..

The story line shows how King Louis XV had one son and 7 daughters. He chose to keep the son and 2 eldest girls (twins) at the palace and the rest of the daughters were sent to live at an Abbey and never saw their parents again.....guess it shows being a 'Princess' isnt all it's cracked up to be at times???

Nannerl (real name Maria Anna) was 5 years older the Wolfgang (known as Mozart).

Mozart died at the age of 35, yet Nannerl lived to the age of 78, but died blind/deaf and poor.

It makes you wonder if she had been encouraged with her music and compositions who would have been the most famous of the Mozart family?

I can only say I am glad I was born in the 1950's and not the 1750's!!!!

Thanks to all the girls that came along and also joined up for a fab meal at the Capt Stirling pub.

As always, great meal, great company, thanks ladies!!
