Greenhills Inn - Saturday 3 July 2010

Greenhills is a very small country village 22km south-east of York, comprising three houses, a hall, and an old country pub, the Greenhills Inn, which has been operating since 1910.
In earlier days the village was much larger and busier.
A few members of the group found the Greenhills Inn by
accident a couple of years ago on weekend trip to York.
Since then a few have been back for a 'quiet' weekend away and
some have been back for a 'less than quiet' weekend away!!!

The weekend of 3rd July saw 8 of us take a lovely scenic drive up into the Avon Valley to return to Greenhills Inn, which has recently changed management.
We were welcomed by Polly and Steve and as you can see we set up in the lovely winter sunshine on the balcony for a few hours....hic hic...as you can see by the pic above we girls were getting ready for the chilly night with our 'York Gloves'!!!

To celebrate taking over the management of Greenhills Inn, Polly and Steve decided to invite 'everyone' for a free buffet dinner.....well the old pub has never seen such a roaring trade!!
The buffet was true country food - roast beef, chicken...you get the idea!

The music went well into the wee small hours and was supplied by One Man Band.
He started around 8.00pm and didn't stop (literally) until just after midnight.
Our group managed to find a spot up near the stage and we sang and danced the night away (aided by a few wee drinks along the way!!!
There was a great blend of''locals' and tourists - see if you can tell the difference on the pic below?
The Greenhills Inn has around 10 rooms upstairs.
Each room is decorated in period style as is the entire upstairs floor.
There are two bathrooms and two toilets upstairs so you have to choose
which to forgo, a balcony room or close to the facilities??
We will be re-visting Greenhills Inn again soon, so if you are interested in coming along the rooms are only $85.00 per night, if 2 or 3 share a room tis even a cheaper night!!

Note we are considering Greenhills Inn for New Years Eve. so if you want to secure a room, let Brian know and is is sure to be 'One Heck of a Way to Welcome in 2011'.....

Thanks to Brian for organising another great event!
As you can see both he and Caroline looked out over the balcony and remember all the
'shannaniggins' like Ma and Pa.
